Do any of you have a problem with Christmas coming before we actually celebrate Thanksgiving?

It used to be that Santa did not show up at Macy’s until after the Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC.

In fact, Santa is at the end of the Thanksgiving Parade rather than at the beginning for just this very reason…don’t you think?

Why can’t we enjoy the heck out of Thanksgiving before getting totally stressed about THE Holidays?

No presents, just come and eat your heart out and leave the shopping and stress til Black Friday…PLEASE!

The Switch Witch- what to do with hallowe’en candy

I wish the “Switch Witch” had been around when my kids were little.

As Hallowe’en approaches there is always the dilemma of what to do with all the candy. Well, here is what I am going to do this year with my granddaughter’s haul complete with a “~~fairy~~ witch’s tale”.

The ‘Switch Witch’ is a nice way to “get rid” of the “Hallowe’en Haul”.

Your child picks some candy to eat on Hallowe’en night.
He then lays out the rest for the Switch Witch before he goes to bed.
The Switch Witch makes rounds takes the candy and leave a surprise!

What a great way to deal with the Halloween dilemma!

Any suggestions as to what the “Switch Witch” should do with the candy?

Labor Day and Back to School brings with it…

a feeling of nostalgia and a longing for things past.

recently, I have been experiencing a kind of “writer’s block” when it comes to blogging…

ever since I can remember,

my calendar year has begun when the school year begins shortly after Labor Day…

late afternoon shadows tell me that Fall and Winter are fast approaching.

white clothing used to be put away immediately after Labor Day

not to be resurrected until the following Spring and Memorial Day.

although that is no longer a dress code requirement…

it still lingers in my fashion sub-conscious.

yesterday…I came across this in…

Sunday’s New York Times’, “Photo Op” there was a reference to the poem Autumn by Keats, “seasons of mists and mellow fruitfulness” “.

Philip Galanies also had this to say…

Memorial Day Weekend…

traditionally…the beginning of summer…

weather, cold and rainy or sunny and warm!

Summer months ahead…

Easter really crept up fast at our house and we had not really thought about our little one’s outfit.

Inside was one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever laid eyes on…

I always find that cake is well suited to every occasion. This lemon frosted cake makes a perfect Easter treat, as yellow themed goods seem to fit nicely with an Easter theme. It’s basically a madeira cake which is smothered with a creamy lemon topping and filled with lemon curd; perfect to enjoy with a cup of tea anytime.
